Club career

Jiang Pengxiang would play for various youth teams in Liaoning before moving to Changchun where he would join Changchun Yatai to start his professional football career.[1] Starting in 2001 he would become a squad regular in an ambitious side looking for promotion to the top tier. While they would win the 2003 league title there wasn't any promotion that year and he would have to wait until Changchun Yatai won promotion at the end of the 2005 league season. With his chance playing at the top tier he would continue to establish himself at the heart of their midfield and prove his importance towards the team when he aided them to a surprising fourth place finish. The following season would see him continue to play his part in the team that would go on to win the 2007 Chinese Super League title.[2]
